If you are not willing to seed, don't use torrents. As cmatt said, if you are concerned about this happening in the future, use a VPN.

Well, there is your answer. Your ports are not forwarded properly.

A seed is someone who has 100% of the file. A peer is someone who does not (yet) have 100% of the file. If you see something like 4(8) that means you are connected to 4 of the available 8 computers, either as a seed or a peer. Torrents work because people are giving back what the have taken. If people just grabbed what they wanted, and then stop the torrent, that torrent would die, and not be available for the next person. Yes. BitTorrent works (all clients) by creating a direct connection between your IP address to someone else's IP address. Is this bad? Well, that's up to you. If it's a concern, use a seedbox.

I've noticed some torrents show "last activity" when there hasn't been any activity. I'm just curious, what is happening that makes the client thing the torrent has been active, when there clearly hasn't been, such as I am the only seed, but no new peers have come along. Thanks for reading...

What are the errors? It's exceptionally unlikely that the program is at fault in this case, more likely something with the disc you are attempting to move to.
