some suggestions
Hello folks,
i'm trying to find an alternative to my old utorrent but so far without not much luck.
i keep on reading that qbittorrent is THE alternative to utorrent but for me it unfortunatly misses that very simple option:
the possibility to forced start torrent!!
i've also tried the tixati client (but cant use it as it is banned on sites i'm using) and saw some nice features there like the possibility to prioritize the tcp/udp connection:
you could choose either: tcp only; tcp>udp; tcp=udp; tcp<udp; udp only which is a brillant idea i think.
i also enjoyed the possibility to set a download folder for each category and of course the possibility to set a ratio limit for each category.

Re: some suggestions
Hi and welcome,
Why would you want to have force start option? Its nothing more than to force the torrent to start if the queue limit has reached and that way ignoring the default settings. It doesn't download faster or something.

Re: some suggestions
i'm using the forced start on the torrents i've created & am seeding in order to seperate them from the rest of what i'm seeding, so that they are always at the top of the list, no matter what their label is.
Re: some suggestions
Well up to now that's one of the poorest excuses for not using a client that is inarguably better than uTorrent.
However it is a good way to make uTorrent perform worse than it would do normally of course.

Re: some suggestions
lol, ciababy you for sure haven't read what nemo have said. it changes nothing, only forces the torrent to start & ignore default setting... and for me put selected torrents at the top of the list.....
and by the way i'm still using the good old utorrent, but 2.2 has an annoying bug (icon not showing in the tray) and the version i'm using right now 2.2.1 at time some torrent get stopped cuz utorrent thinks some files are missing in it....
so it looks like the best option is going to be going back 1.8.2

Re: some suggestions
A possible workaround is this:
1. Righ-click on a torrent->limit share ratio...
2. Set no ratio limit
3. Increase your queued limits by the number of torrents you set to "no limit".
(a similar option is inside the torrent creator too)

Re: some suggestions
Point 1 & 2 could be helpful but 3 wouldn't. He doesn't want to use Force Start (if it was there) for what its made for, he wants to use it to keep the torrents that he choose to stay on top of the list. Not to override his queue settings and actually force it to start.
ciao probably did read it, but then still; The reason why you prefer uTorrent over qBittorrent seems a bit weird to me too, especially the reasoning to keep your selected torrents above the list (my opinion). If 1.8.2 makes you happy (or whatever client or version) use that one if it fits your needs. I wouldn't call it ''the best option'' though.

Re: some suggestions
yep nemo, not exactly the best option to go back to 1.8.2 but i'm getting tired of the little bug from other version i used and this one works flawlessly! too bad it is that old! hence why i'd like to find a new client ( i even tried the new utorrent, the bloat ads isn't too much of a problem since you can make them disappear but the upload speed sucks with those versions).
so maybe you'd like to implement that forced start thing with qbittorrent, thats still a nice option when you use it as it should (avoid you to perform multiple clicks when 1 is only needed and since the torrent goes up the list, you don't forget that you have removed the ratio limit on it...)
the only workaround i could think of right now would be to make a special label for each tracker i'm uploading things to and then sorting thing by label.
now how about the 2 other ideas?
i'm never using utp cause i'm getting slower speed with it and i will always connect with it to people allowing it. but by doing so i'm excluding myself from connecting to peers only using it.
by giving users the choice, i could set myself like tcp>utp so i could connect mainly with tcp but still be able to communicate with utp peers.
last one is only about efficiency (you just set the label and everything ready) & laziness

Re: some suggestions
When you enable utp, qbt configures libtorrent to prefer tcp connections over udp.
The force start thing, will get implemented sometime. No ETA though.

Re: some suggestions
I just remembered that I have tagged this for v3.2.0: https://github.com/qbittorrent/qBittorrent/issues/270
Re: some suggestions
thats 2 very good news sledgehammer. i'm going to slowly but surely transfert manually my torrent files to qbt (i know there an automated option for that but some are partial download... i already made the mistake once)
Re: some suggestions
There you go, great news for you indeed

Pause button is actually a stop button. It does the same thing.
