Torrents initial status is stalled until qBittorrent is restarted

Post by hyp0xia »

Wondering if anyone else if having the same issue with 3.1.10. Almost every torrent added has an initial status of "stalled" and the only way to initiate the torrent seems to be deleting the torrent, re-starting qBittorrent, and then adding the torrent back. When this happens, the torrent almost immediately starts. For each new torrent though, the same thing will happen in that it will show a stalled status until the app is restarted and the torrent is re-added.

Just wondering if it's just me so I can continue troubleshooting or not.

Thanks!

Edit: It appears that the torrent does not need to be re-added. Simply restarting qBittorrent will change the status from stalled to downloading.

Just wondering if this even happens to anyone else.. if it doesnt happen to you, even posting "this doesnt happen to me" is helpful.

Let me know :)

Nope, it's not happening here. HTH! :)

Please try one of those torrents (BitTorrent>>Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS torrents). See if it still stalls...

Thanks for the reply. Yeah it definitely helps to get more info.. I treid those torrents and they did initially start as stalled for a few moments and then initiated downloading without me having to restart the client.

Hmm.. at least that's progress ;)

What does the "trackers" button show for the stalled torrents? What is the status for the trackers? Are they contacted? (screenshot could be helpful)

Thanks sledge. After looking closer at the trackers list, it appears that when the torrent is first added to qBittorrent, the trackers don't show up at all.

Screenshot #1.

Immediately after restarting qBittorrent, seeds and peers begin to populate in the details and the tracker seems to show up.

That's not the problem. You hadn't selected the torrent in the first pic that's why nothing showed up. Can you retry?

Ah, sorry about that. I *did* have it selected but must have clicked off before the screenshot. Here's another with a new torrent added:

And with the same torrent, right after restarting qBittorrent:

When it is stalled can you copy the execution log?
Do you use a proxy or a vpn?

No vpn, and no proxy. Aright, after a few reboots of the OS, they're not showing up as stalled but only stay that way for about 4-5 seconds while the torrent connects to at least one peer then the status changes to downloading. Appears that I dont need to restart the client anymore.. going to keep loading some new torrents and see if any of the stick at stalled.

Will post back.

I'd say it's normal behaviour. Anyway, I hope everything turns out well.

All torrents (public) or only the ones from iptorrents (private)? Maybe it takes a while to announce on the private tracker that you're on, thats normal behaviour indeed.

Prior, both public and private torrents would initially stall before having to restart qBittorrent. Now public seems to be fine, and private seems to be the one stalling on load. Maybe once out of every 10 private torrents will start downloading without having to restart qBittorrent. But other than that, as long as they are in the queue, a restart will get them going almost immediately.
