After nearly two weeks of downtime the official domain of The Pirate Bay is showing signs of life. For now ThePirateBay.se is only waving a pirate flag, but that's good enough to give many Pirate Bay users hope for a full recovery.
On December 9 The Pirate Bay was raided at the Nacka station, a nuclear-proof data center built into a mountain complex near Stockholm.
Despite the rise of various TPB clones and rumors of reincarnations, thepiratebay.se domain remained inaccessible, until today.
When you visit thepiratebay.se you see a waving pirate flag, a hydra image on the background and a counter which shows the time that’s passed since the raid (approximately, as the counter is relative to the visitor’s time).

Pirate Bay Domain back online, waving a pirate flag.
Re: Pirate Bay Domain back online, waving a pirate flag.
Nice. (Tapping the ship on an Android device results in ads / adware app downloads, so be careful with that.)
Re: Pirate Bay Domain back online, waving a pirate flag.
Really good news, read it days ago at TF... Will be back soon or later...
Re: Pirate Bay Domain back online, waving a pirate flag.
They can never stop sites like these. All wasted money that spends MPAA or any organization could be used for another purposes instead. The big guys at the top from those organizations are only filling their own pocket at the end.
Re: Pirate Bay Domain back online, waving a pirate flag.
I posted this the other day in response to the last round of forcing UK ISP to block torrent site across their networks.
Maybe some of you who are "political activists" should start harassing your Government representatives to give so serious thought to something similar.Instead of getting ISPs to block sites which will NEVER cure the 'problem', why do they not look at implementing a 50p (or so) per month, per account 'levy' to ISPs?
It could replace T.V. Licensing, PRS licensing, copyright payment to musicians, film companies etc and make this sort of thing totally unnecessary. People who like to buy CDs, DVDs, go to the cinema etc. will still do so, so there is nothing lost there and a lot of 'goodwill' could be gained. It works with every other kind of 'copyright payment, 'music' shops collect the copyright payments on the CDs they sell and pay it to whomever, Cinemas and film distributors collect on ticket sales. why not collect the same kind of payment from the companies without which "downloading" would not be possible?
Re: Pirate Bay Domain back online, waving a pirate flag.
Valid points indeed, well said.
Why these people actually do think that blocking will cure this problem while its clearly not makes me wonder since day one. It probably works for the average users but advanced users will always find a way to get to any site they want (I do not only mean TPB but any site that gets blocked for certain reasons). There is always a way around. Completely close the site? New one comes. Just like a cat and mice game.

Pirate Bay starts counting down to.... February 1.
The Pirate Bay has started the new year with an interesting update to the site. The counter that previously kept track of the time that had passed since the raid, is now counting down to February first. An official announcement is expected to follow in the near future.

Pirate Bay's Mystery AES Code Finally Decrypted.
After more than a month and several hints from the Pirate Bay team, the AES string posted on the sites homepage is finally solved. Instead of a secret message linking to a backup hidden in the deep web, it links to a YouTube video featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger's catchphrase "I'll be back."
YouTube video from the AES code.
