Best way to implement qbit on a nas?

Was a bit unsure where to put this.
I'm getting my self a nas, hp prolient microserver, a dual core 2.2ghz with 8gb ram. But i'm unsure what OS i should install on it to run qbit with, should i go nas4free/freenas and try and get qbittorrent-nox running or install qbit in a jail. Maybe linux, or just run windows on it and use the webgui. The box will do nothing else than being a seperate torrent client.

I'm wondering what sort of solutions others have done. Suggestions ?

I found the best option on my QNAP was to install a Linux virtual machine and run qBittorrent in that via remote control (VNC). Might not be the most efficient, but it gives the full capabilities (RSS feeds, etc) that you don't get via qbittorrent-nox + webui.

I also use lxc containers as VPN endpoints - the default gateway on the torrent VM is to a VPN container (using the internal virtual switch) so no unencrypted traffic from the torrent VM ever leaves the NAS.

Ah, i see. I rely on RSS, so that absolutely has to work. I was thinking linux mint with lxde so i could run the full version of qbit and then install linux equivalent of teamviewer and enable webgui. I also think i remember ciaobaby once mentioned that if you wanted performace, just do that and be done with it or something along those lines.
