VPN in a VM

Post by Uemars »

Hello guys :)

I've been using qBittorrent for a while and I'm trying to put my torrenting behind a VPN, but I can't just run the VPN system-wide because some games hand out lifetime bans for connecting via VPN, so I'm thinking of running VPN in a VM (VirtualBox). But I can't run qB in the VM because the virtual disk would have to be huge and those things get corrupted easily on power failures.

If anybody here has a qBittorrent+VPN+VM setup, how do you have qB connect to the VM?

You can simply use a network share to share a drive or folders between the host and the vm.
It works great, I've used this method. Keep in mind that some games will kick you for running a VM, for example PUBG, Tarkov and such will kick you. Not ban, just kick, saying "disallowed program". Can be annoying during a Tarkov raid.

(This kick only happens IF the vm program is actually open during the game. If you don't open it, you are safe.)
