Hello .. is there somebody willing to create or point me to optional repository that we will add to raspberry Pi and when running sudo apt update , we will be able also update to latest qBittorrent ? I did find great work from rursache that created some .deb packages scripts .. but , we common people .. like to have latest versions of qbittorrent .. but not to run so complex qb.sh scripts .. or to check them if they are all genuine ..
right now we are running on raspberry pi qbittorrent version v4.2.5 ( last stable version added to official repository ) which is working .. but ..
1. with nordvpn proxy , most of the time ( all the time ) the next added torrent is in state downloading metadata and stuck .. and yes .. i did install and implement nordvpn correctly .. usually on off proxy do the trick , but why ? :-)
2. with private trackers, when added things from RSS, qbittorrent usually not uploading = you do loose momentum , and with limited leechers you can not build any upload ratio ( for some strange reason uTorrent do not have this problem but can not be installed easily to raspberry pi )
3. for some strange reason , upload is limited to 150 kbps .. even with unlimited bandwidth ( again uTorrent do not have problem to utilize whole bandwidth and upload in MB , not in few kb )
therefore there is a question .. is it not waste to run on old version , and not possible to update ?
I would be grateful if somebody could show me how to maybe add unofficial repo, where qbit is updated ..
tx
Raspberry Pi ADD optional repository with Latest Version
Re: Raspberry Pi ADD optional repository with Latest Version
hi,
I use Ubuntu desktop for ARM64 (officially supported) on my RPI4 only for this reason: being able to update through the official PPA repo
Add the PPA to ubuntu (explanation on the website) and that's it.
RPi OS is more optimized for an RPI but Ubuntu is not so bad. give it a try

Re: Raspberry Pi ADD optional repository with Latest Version
Thank you for your reply .. right now I am happy that it is working but will play and try Ubuntu .. can be fun ..
in general .. do you say .. that on Ubuntu you have the latest version of qbt through the official PPA repo ?
is there a way .. ( do somebody know ) maybe to add link to updating mechanism, the unofficial PPA repo to RPi OS ?
if not .. will give it a try .. and play with Ubuntu :-)

Re: Raspberry Pi ADD optional repository with Latest Version
Well it will lead to problem. A PPA may use libraries of Ubuntu hence is specific per Ubuntu release (PPA address changes).
I did it in the past with Debian and PPA. It worked but at some point a library was needed (coming from Debian). Easy to solve but the problem was time consuming with the release/identification of the problem each time. This leads my choice for Ubuntu arm64.
I'm sure RPI OS is faster and address better usage of the hardware but so far Ubuntu ARM64 did a great job for me. Reliable and easy to maintain QBT with the PPA. Pick your pain

Re: Raspberry Pi ADD optional repository with Latest Version
It will. Mine is booting from an mSATA SSD (cheap) and writing to another USB HDD. We can discuss the setup but about the USB enclosure try to take ones with ASMEDIA chipset. It will ease your life
. The brand "ugreen" is most of the time built with ASMEDIA and is cheap.
If you want to give it a go wait a bit for Ubuntu 22.10 planned for the end of the month (one upgrade less
