qBittorrent Installer is super TINY on Win11 with UHD monitor

Post by Hammerhead »

I'm running 64-bit qBittorrent in Win11. I had to set the Win11 Scaling and Text Size both to 175% to get apps and window text, icons, and check boxes to be decent sized. I am using a 3840x2160 UHD monitor with Nvidia GTX-1650 graphics in a desktop computer. Video from the computer to the monitor is via an HDMI cable. The scaling of text, icons, and check boxes in Windows 11 does not seem to make the qBittorrent installer window and text size any larger. The qBittorrent app itself does get larger text and icons when I use 175% scaling for window size, text size, icon size, etc.. It's only the installer that is so tiny. You can use the keyboard keys "Cntl +" to enlarge things on-screen in steps (press 2 or more times for more enlargement), but that has no effect on the Installer window.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or an oversight on my part or what.

I decided to have a look at the Nvidia Control Panel (not part of Windows, it comes with the Nvidia GTX graphics). I just noticed that it also continues to have teeny tiny text in the working part of the window. While the drop-down menu items File Edit Desktop Display... that text is properly sized to read easily. It's only the text inside the "working" part of the window that's too small.

So you're using custom scaling system-wide? You can also adjust scaling per application. If you right-click the qBittorrent installer and go to Properties → Compatibility tab there's a couple DPI settings there that you can apply. One of them is an override option. Play with them and see if it fixes the issue. Unfortunately you'll probably have to do this with your other apps that aren't scaling properly system-wide.

Option 1: In Windows 11, you can set scaling based on monitor.
Option 2: You could lower the resolution of the far monitor and thus have bigger image.
Option 3: You can use third-party or in-built Magnifier software.
