Network interface setting

Post by Baneling »

Hi all, I recently setup a seedbox. I installed the PIA vpn and have portforwarding working. If I go into tools->options->advanced, how do I find out which network interface to use? I have several options. Thanks

Why would you use a PIA VPN on a seedbox? That makes absolutely no sense to me... the whole point of renting a seedbox is to have great speeds and open connection.

It's not really a seedbox, it's just a local windows 11 machine that I'm using for my torrents and a plex server. How should I set it up so as to get portforwarding working and have max downloading and uploading speeds?

Max speeds? Don't use a VPN. :)

Jokes aside if you want to use your VPN, go into the settings of your VPN app and change protocol. For example, OpenVPN has its own interface. Once you set it to OpenVPN for example, restart qBittorrent and a new interface will show up.

It is on openVPN already. The other option is WireGuard and it's description says it's newer, more efficient with the potential for higher speeds. I'll try that and see what happens, thanks.

Update: it's using wireGuard now and speedtest.net is reporting much faster speeds. But how do I get port forwarding working without using the VPN? I tried doing this a while ago and pulled out alot of my hair trying to figure it out, but it never worked. That's why I got this PIA VPN.
