New instance of QBT when opening magnet
When I open a Magnet link in Vivaldi, QBT opens a new instance with default settings of itself instead of using my normal settings. It doesn't make a difference if QBT is already running or not. How can I open magnet links in my normal instance 0f QBT?

Me too. I mentioned it after I updated from 4.65 to anything newer.
qB really needs to implement its own magnet link association setting (like how utorrent takes over all file associations with one button), because there is no magnet file association to set in Default Programs/Apps in Windows 11.

Update: Because I couldn't find magnet in default programs, I did some experimenting and searched for magnet in regedit.
*This workaround was only tested on Portable installs.*
*Backup your registry and computer/OS drive before making registry changes. The following makes changes to registry, proceed at your own risk. I'm not qualified to help if this causes problems.*
Magnet file association should be located in this part of registry:
1. launch regedit.
Navigate to:
Computer\HKEY_USERS\**choose your unique S number**\Software\Classes\Magnet
If you don't know which S number is correct, or you have multiple entries in each, then first navigate to Computer\HKEY_USERS in regedit's address bar, then click Edit and Find to search for magnet and you'll find a folder named Magnet. Repeat the following steps for each Magnet folder within Software\Classes\Magnet folder under each S number.
2. In this Magnet folder entry, navigate to shell>open>command, then double-click to launch "(Default)".
3. Change the filepath to the exe that you use as your main torrent application file.
For me the filepath in that registry entry was set to a subfolder of my portable install. I decided to re-route it to my portable exe in the root folder of my portable install. Then I tested on 5.02 and again on 4.65. For both portable versions, clicking magnet links started launching the save window within existing instance of portable exe and stopped launching another instance.
4. Maintenance: *Until Qbittorrent implements a solution (preferably a button within the the software's settings/Windows), whenever you rename/move the portable install, or install standalone (non-portable) version, you'll need to redo the steps above to update the filepath, to prevent the problem from re-producing.*
5. Happy New Year.
