Stalled...

Post by Aoxo »

I have never seen this program download anything, or even attempt to connect to anyone.  I add torrents and get nothing but "stalled".  The tracker tab reports status of "not working".

I have Deluge installed, which also uses libtorrent-rasterbar, and it works much better.  I've found a few threads, some with replies from developers that basically just shrug and say it doesn't affect enough people and it's probably a bug in libtorrent.  Sort of an "oh well" attitude...  To be honest I, and probably many other people, just said "oh well" and moved on too.  I've gone through just about every linux torrent client I know of trying to find the one that works best, sadly almost all of them either don't support socks 5 proxy or claim to but don't really use it.  QBittorrent takes the cake though, it doesn't work at all.

Now I'm already using something different, and even if qBittorrent were fixed I currently would have no reason to switch to it....but I thought I would post anyway.  In case anyone is interested.

Kubuntu 12.10 & Kubuntu 13.04 running on VMware.

Whatever, it's not the developers responsibility to troubleshoot every users' connection problem. But I suppose ignorance is bliss for you.

I was able to produce stalled torrents by disabling DHT and/or enabling 'anonymous' setting.
It seems the main reason for 'stalled' complaints/errors/'bugs', perhaps due to glancing over the program; checking/unchecking options after initial install and perhaps forgetting to uncheck a setting like 'anonymous' ?

I am having the same problem, all torrents show status "stalled", as described above. It is not an individual users connection problem. Can anyone help please?

I appear to be having the same problem. Same machine, 12.04 works perfectly. Can't get anything to work on 13.04,13.10. I ended up making a post on this forum and AskUbuntu to see if anyone has a fix.

Hello,

I am under Xubuntu 13.04 and until two days ago I was an extremely happy qBittorrent user.
Since I have encountered the same kind of issue :
- all torrents are "Stalled"
- all trackers are marked as "Not working"

I have tried the following without success :
- upgrading to 3.0.11
- removing the "~/.config/qbittorrent" to avoid configuration issues

Other bittorrent clients like "transmission" work without problem.
The log window and the standard output don't show anything peculiar (as far as I can tell).
qBittorrent is dynamically linked to qt 4.8.4.

Thanks to all the people involved in this project.

Regards

Hi :),

A few steps:
- Did you try this torrent?
@Hikun does this torrent work on your machine? ->http://www.nyaa.se/?page=download&tid=468586
- Transmission and qBittorrent using the same port? If so change. And is it correctly open?
- Both active at the same time?
- Enough seeds/peers?
- Same torrent as in Transmission?

Thanks for your useless, ignorant post. I personally (and many others) don't care what you use its your choice. Im wondering how all the other people do download and use it like its supposed to be and very few like you can't.

Hi,

I am not sure your questions were for me too. Anyway ...

- Did you try this torrent?
Yes, same result as with the other torrents
- Transmission and qBittorrent using the same port? If so change. And is it correctly open?
I have tried a "random" one without success
- Both active at the same time?
No
- Enough seeds/peers?
No seeds/peers under qBittorrent
- Same torrent as in Transmission?
Exactly the same

A message that might be interesting in the "Execution log" window :
18/09/2013 20:29:00 - qBittorrent is bound to port: TCP/0

Here is the standard output of qBittorrent :
Object::connect: No such slot TrackerList::editSelectedTracker()
Object::connect: No such slot TrackerList::editSelectedTracker()
Object::connect: No such slot PropertiesWidget::editWebSeed()
Object::connect:  (receiver name: 'PropertiesWidget')
Object::connect: No such slot PropertiesWidget::editWebSeed()
Object::connect:  (sender name:  'listWebSeeds')
Object::connect:  (receiver name: 'PropertiesWidget')

Thanks for your help.

Yes those questions were for you, thanks for answering :). The execution logs might be interesting for sledge.

Some users reported that this has to do something with the network interface used. Can you Tools->Options...->Advanced->Network Interface and choose "any interface". Then restart qbt and try again. Did it work?

There is no other choice other than "Any interface".

Can you post the whole execution log?

TCP/0 seems to be the problem. It shouldn't connect to port 0. Make sure the port number for bittorrent AND dht is not 0 at the settings.

I have pushed some changes on git master that make qbt to be more verbose on what it is doing the listening ports and what is the outcome.

Please use our official unstable PPA: https://launchpad.net/~hydr0g3n/+archiv ... ent-trunk/

This PPA builds daily from git master. You'll probably have to wait a few hours until it syncs again. Now, the unsynced version is 3.1.x-0~4483-20130918~ubuntu13.04.1
Anything greater than that will include my commits.

Run qbt again, and copy the log here (remove torrent list). Hopefully we'll get an idea why it is using port 0.
