Preventing Data Loss

Post by akya »

I am using qB v3.2 alpha, Windows8 64 bit. I was downloading a torrent of size 228mb, out of which 198mb were completed. I was installing some other software and had to restart the system. So I paused the torrent and waited for a min or so, closed qB and then restarted windows. When I reopened, qB showed that only 13% download was completed and still 197 mb was remaining to download, Checked the log and found this -

13/11/2013 17:44:34 - Fast resume data was rejected for torrent XYZ, checking again...
13/11/2013 17:44:34 - Reason: XYZ fast resume rejected: mismatching file size

This has happened while using 3.1.2 also
My question is What can be done to prevent this from happening again?

Hmm, the numbers don't add up. The columns show that file size is 228MB, you have downloaded 198MB and there are 197.8MB left!!! 228.3-197.8=30.5=13.35% BUT 198+197.8 != 228

Does this happen only with that torrent consistenly(if yes pm me a link) or with others too? Before the shutdown was the percentage at 13% too?

PS: What filesystem do your disk use? NTFS?

The torrent was abt 85% completed... and after the restart 13%... Had to download the torrent again from there.. I am using NTFS.. This has happened before but at that time I had a abrupt restart and that's why I thought the data loss at that time was because of that.. But this was a clean restart.. When I paused the torrent I also waited for a cpl of minutes to let it stop completely and then restarted the machine..
