You might be right. If you're really that curious then you can always just ask him.

hi, I am having this same issue and I have been using nordvpn for years and never had a problem until recently... I didn't make any change but I am under the impression that it was caused by a windows update? my laptop was downloading and seeding until it wasn't and I tried it with the vpn off just to confirm. This happened on a trip so I thought it might be a change at the isp level, I didn't have any other way to test so I let it be. Back home, I have an older laptop which was off for a long time. When I tried qbit it was working ok, then I am assuming the same update happened and it stopped working, right now none of the 2 laptops are able to connect but this is a completely different isp (country even), and both laptops were working fine before. Any thoughts of what I could check?

Thank you

Are you able to successfully connect to any of NordVPN's servers? If the answer is yes then you've already managed to traverse your ISP's network and establish a VPN connection which I'm assuming is stable. This means that it's now up to their network as to whether or not you can receive inbound connections. On your end, in qBittorrent's connection settings under "Peer connection protocol", you should have "TCP and μTP" enabled. Directly underneath that option you'll see "Listening Port". Click the "Random" button to change it and at the bottom of the settings window apply the changes. Now test it against a torrent with several discovered peers. Did that fix it? If you continue to see the flame icon then try connecting to a different NordVPN server. If it still persists then you can also try switching your VPN protocol (ieg., NordLynx, OpenVPN, IKEv2, etc).
