Many thanks for your reply.

It is exactly as you suggest: "...protocol error 4... ...no/erroneous BT client listening". I thought it was me, having checked and re-checked my settings and firewall.

I'll have to try to download the previous version.

Many thanks again for your help and suggestion.

Hi all. Another uTorrent to qBittorrent 4.0.4 user here. I've seen weird results with Dime as well. Although their control panels shows me with the same protocol errors that others have seen, I've noticed that it's only on b0.dimeadozen.org. Torrents off of b1 and b2 do not show errors in qBittorrent when I look at messages in the tracker tab. I haven't tried 4.0.3 yet, but I will.

I also have the same the same protocol error problem on a private springsteen tracker as well. It's the same code base as Dime, so I'm not surprised.

And yeah, I don't think the admins are going to put any effort into this, so it would be interesting to see what the difference is in the code base.

UPDATE: Now I don't see any errors on any of the Dime servers. Weird.

In my absence at work today, v4.0.3 seems to have worked its magic. Three torrents downloaded from Dime: downloads 1800MB approx., uploads 4.67GB!

Many thanks again rednoise for the advice...

To astanley: Jungleland by chance??

Yes. I didn't want to name it. I assume you've had the same issue.

if i install the old version, does it retain all of my torrents that i already have in 4.0.4, or would i have to re-add them all into 4.0.3?

You can install either version over the other and it will retain all your torrents and settings. No problem.

thank you, and everyone else in this thread for all of your help! i downgraded to v4.0.3 and my DIME error instantly went away. i went nuts re-forwarding my ports, adjusting settings, etc., and it seems like the problem is really just on DIME's end regarding v4.0.4. i have no problems using the older version since i primarily was switching to qBt after utorrent became unsafe and banned from some of the trackers i use. i guess i'll try upgrading as a test every few months to see if DIME changes anything.

Thought I'd register to say I'm having this same issue. Started with 4.0.4, noticed it on Dime, "protocol error 4 - no/erroneous BT client listening.".

I've rolled back to 4.0.3 and everything is working great.  Same as puncle, I wanted to thank everyone for their help in this thread.  Worked for me.  Here's hoping whatever changed is fixed for 4.0.5.

One wild-assed guess I had recently... most of the changes listed for 4.0.4 are cosmetic, but one functional appears to be a new version of the libtorrent library. I see many mentions of various issues that crop up with each new version of that library, and I wonder if what we're seeing is one of them. I don't have the knowledge or ability to test out that idea, but I wonder if anyone who knows more about it could say if it has any legs.

Does anyone know if this issue has been fixed in the new 4.1.0 release?

I just tried out the new version 4.1.1 and there is no joy in Mudville... I struck out again. There is some basic incompatibility between dimeadozen and recent versions of qbittorrent, uTorrent, and maybe others. I'm not aware that anybody has been able to identify the source of the incompatibility.
