For anyone wondering why the lack of decision here. I am not actively developing on this feature. It is not as if I am waiting for someone to come up with the perfect combo.
I just still leave this open in case someone has a brilliant idea until I actually go ahead and implement the feature.

I agree with "Only the torrent icon to change color" suggestion. It is easier on the eye. The color scheme seems OK.

Light green for downloading, dark green for stalled.

hmm, I would rather have the whole text colored, instead of just an icon.
Also, paused and Stopped, this one is making me a lil bit confused.
Paused and Queued should not have the same color.
Checking few color combinations, will reply when done.

According to some body suggested, I am modifying it little bit more:
For me, I would like:
Error: Red
Paused: Purple/Pink/Violet
Queued: Orange
Downloading: Green
Seeding: Blue
Stopped: Yellow

Aren't paused and stopped the same? I think paused/stopped should be a more legible color like Orange and queued should be Cyan.
Here's what the final output should be and why:
Stalled: Black (because stalled means the torrent has no activity therefore it's dead so black is fitting because black is a "dead/necrotic" color)
Error: Red (because red is an alerting color)
Paused: Orange (because orange is more legible than yellow and we don't want people to pause torrents so it's "sort of" an alert because orange is red mixed with yellow)
Queued: Teal (because it is neither downloading nor seeding but it is still in limbo yet not paused so the color should be a mix of blue and green)
Downloading: Green (because green is an "envious color" to denote how you are grabbing a file you want from somebody else)
Seeding: Blue (because blue is a serene color to denote how you are doing good by giving files to somebody else)
And to maximize legibility for the "queued" color, we should pick a shade of Teal that is dark enough to read on a white background from this spectrum between blue and green:

Thanks. I wanted all of them to make sense in our minds so that our brain makes the associations a lot quicker. I really think this works perfectly.

I need ·light· colored text on my black background ( my windows 8 theme ).
The farther away my monitor is, the lighter the text needs to be.
It should be ·my· choice, I think.
edit: code tags removed

Why do you write in code tags? Can't you write like any other normal user?
For your issue see this specific comment I have made:

@sledgehammer_999, this form doesn't support basic HTML;
to wit: <PRE> and <BIG>. CraigsList got it right,
this forum got it wrong... sorry, but it's true.
GitHub does a fair job, but not as good as CraigsList.
CraigsList is ·pure· genius, this forum sucks.
Without <PRE>, "code" is next best thing.
As a programmer, you should understand the power
of monospaced fonts ( for indenting and tables ).
It truely saddens me that you don't understand.
I write more code than text, so my text looks like code.
Sorry, that's just the way it is... suck it up.
As for the colors and sizes of qBit's text.
There should be toolbar option to "brighten and/or enlarge" text.
Honest·to·God, REAL programmers work in dark rooms,
with light·text on black.
White backgrounds are for chronic newbies.
Are you a chronic newbie, or a programmer ? !
I wonder.
Static font sizes/colors are for those who
can't vary the position ( wide or tall )
and distance of their monitors.
Google "Workrite Poise".

I think downloading should be green, green is good, it means we're a go!
Maybe blue for seeding & grey for paused.

I think I pretty much nailed those in my earlier post. I went with black instead of grey for maximum legibility.

I read all posts and this is what I think. There is no way everyone will be happy...so...
Why can we let people choose their own colors for torrent list?
Something like Total Commander > Configuration > Options > Color
http://trishah.com/graphics/totalcommander/02.jpg
(I found this pic on google)
and instead of Define colors by type, you can have "Define colors by torrent action" and people can even overwrite basic rule coloring if they want any additional "torrent state" to be highlighted.
You can even expand color choosing for categories and throw color wheel/picker (like in PS) so people can specify exact color in RGB or something.
