Change path without moving files

Is there a way to change paths without moving the files?
The files will already exist in the new location and for my purposes recheck isn't required as the files will always be identical (for the moment it is just an additional mountpoint as the first step of a larger project), but it isn't a problem if it does a recheck either.
Is there a way to skip moving the files completely, or at least skip the delete step?
