Download box does not open

When I do a search, plenty files are found. But I cannot open any of them for download. Download box does not open. Have re-installed software but still no joy.
Any help appreciated.

Settings -> Downloads icon (on left)
Then right on top: "Display torrent content and some options..."
(The "Bring torrent dialog to the front" is also checked by default.)

Recently I get the box saying I don't have the password. I can get round this by force quitting on the Mac, than restarting. It's just a PITA. Is there a permanent fix for this???
