W10 4.5 not binding / stuck on Network Interface

Post by thinders1951 »

QB w10 client

Using CyberGhost

"normally" the network interface value "increments" by 1

E.G. CyberGhost Wireguard 40 to 41 after a reboot or restart.

A Windows update may reset the value to 1

It seems it is "stuck" on 43.
Connection status shows "offline"

I changed the VPN protocol from Wireguard to OpenVPN and the network interface still says Wireguard 43.

I've tried loading QB then CG and the reverse with no effect.

I have searched posts and removed / changed some other settings without success.

I updated to the latest version, no luck.

Using w10 tool, reset network interface, no change

If I live dangerously (not inclined) and turn off the VPN, and choose "use any interface" torrents start.

If I leave the VPN on and choose "use any.." torrents also start.

Removing CG removed the network interface named CyberGhost wiregauard 43
Reboot
QB still shows CG wireguard 43 and still shows Offline
Note: QB shows network interfaces that do NOT exist on my laptop
Local Area Connector 9 and 10

Thanks

Go to the Network and Sharing Centre and see what network interface CyberGhost is showing there.

Right now, with CG removed, there is no CG network interface listed in W10.

However, QB still shows Cyberghost Wireguard 43 as an available network.

I will reinstall CG and see what happens.

Thanks

After reinstall of CG

Network interface only shows WiFi and Ethernet Tap windows V9

QB still shows CG Wireguard 43
It also shows Ethernet
Local Area connection 9 and 10
And Loopback

QB still shows Offline

A second w11 laptop where CG is also installedB shows
CG Wireguard 1
Ethernet 2
etc

Network sharing shows
WifI
Ethernet 2 TAP V9

Loading CG then QB shows QB online
QB network interface is CG Wireguard 1 (which is what CG is set to)

Ethernet Tap windows V9 is the VPN interface.

To the right of that, in network and sharing, it says access type and connections. The blue clickable name next to connections is what you select in QB.

I'm guessing it's Ethernet. This changes based on the type of adapter used, i.e. Openvpn or Wireguard.

Thanks, tried setting QB to use the Ethernet network connection.
QP showed the connection was active.
However, selecting a torrent with MANY seeds no transfer was started.

Added torrent from here:
https://torguard.net/checkmytorrentipad ... ff3823bef4

Never reported the ip address.

Rebooted and QB reports Wireguard 6 and that worked.

Not sure what is going on

removed QB
Reinstalled on W10 with same issue, still showing -43
Listing of SSIDs showed a SSID-2
removed / forgot

Reboot
Only correct SSID
Set CG to VPN protocol to Auto
Now QB ONLY shows Ethernet

Load CG
Load QB
All works
