Search function stopped working

Hello, I've been using qBittorrent for some years now, no problems.

Suddenly, search function has stopped working.... no results... goes almost straight to orange warning triangle with exclamation mark.

Upload transfers not affected

qBittorrent v4.6.2
Systems is Windows 10 LTSC

I have my own VPN setup (Pi-Hole) for outgoing requests - all worked fine until recently, doesn't work with VPN either on or off? turned Pi-Hole off, still nothing?

I have uninstalled Qbit and Python completely, reinstalled again via Ninite installer, Python 3.10.11 is the now version installed.

There are 2 entries in the Windows Firewall - one ticked for Private, the other for Public (My Pi-Hole/Wireguard is set as a public network)

Logs show all ok except UPnP
currently:

Code: Select all

UPnP/NAT-PMP port mapping failed. Message: "could not map port using UPnP: no router found"
but after re-install, once only (I think??)

Code: Select all

UPnP/NAT-PMP port mapping succeeded. Message: "successfully mapped port using UPnP. external port: UDP/33274"
UPnP/NAT-PMP port mapping succeeded. Message: "successfully mapped port using UPnP. external port: TCP/33274"
Not sure where else to look - maybe it was something in a Windows Update...?? or my ISP (Virgin Media(UK))????

Scratching my head now.... all suggestions greatly appreciated, can post logs if needed (I don't have any from when it did work ok).

Cheers,

neil

Also, just worked out that the
UPnP/NAT-PMP port mapping failed
error message was being caused by my use of network bridge on this machine.

Turned of the bridge and get

Code: Select all

14/12/2023 16:17 - UPnP/NAT-PMP port mapping succeeded. Message: "successfully mapped port using UPnP. external port: UDP/33274"
in the log now.....

Also should have said that all 'search Plugins' are up to date

Further update:

I have a laptop that has a slightly older version of QBt, 4.3.3 (Python 8.3.5), that also has the same issue, no search results.

The laptop stays on searching, blue tick, for longer, but then gets the orange exclamation triangle.

Laptop connects to same router (Virgin Media), although via wifi. No VPN.

Laptop went through extensive windows update recently, the main machine in my first post also updated but to a lesser extent (laptop had some failed updates)

....... ?

further, further update.....

connected laptop to phone and used its 4g connection - searches and downloads work just fine!

Problem must be my ISP, Virgin Media(UK) or their supplied router (SuperHub 3)

I'm having the same problem on Ubuntu and Windows machines.
I also thought it might be my router or ISP (Plusnet) so I tried an alternative connection through my phone's EE 4G connection, but still no search results.
However, this might not be a great test as Plusnet and EE are both BT companies.

In my case, it does seem to be an ISP thing.
I just changed the primary and secondary DNS settings in my router and the search function has returned.
