Chinese leeches and 0% peers

Post by kidranger »

I would like to preface by saying that I seed a large number of public torrents from home behind ProtonVPN with port forwarding. All is well. However, I've noticed that recently I have noticed a large uptick in
  • Chinese IPs consuming LARGE amounts of bandwidth
  • Large amounts of Amazon AWS and Cloudflare IPs at 0%, typically always using the same port.
  • Other IPs grouped in various IP ranges all at 0% on the same port
Admittedly, my knowledge of the BitTorrent protocol and trackers is pretty low, so I'm not familiar with what could be happening here and whether any are cause for concern?

Thanks!

If you run torrents where you encounter Chinese peers, you should run the "Enhanced Edition".
It's not an upgrade but a different qBittorrent.

"Features:
Auto Ban Xunlei, QQ, Baidu, Xfplay, DLBT and Offline downloader
Auto Ban Unknown Peer from China Option (Default: OFF)
Auto Update Public Trackers List (Default: OFF)
Auto Ban BitTorrent Media Player Peer Option (Default: OFF)
Peer whitelist/blacklist
