Question on torrents created by me

Post by asdrubalante »

Hello,

I'm back to torrenting after several years.
I've got VPN and port fowarding correctly set, and I am able to seed quite well.
My question is actually about torrents created by myself and advertised to the latest list of working trackers and DHT, peer exchange and so on, that - once created - appear with 0(4) Seeders.
I am actually surprised that I get some peers downloading them (although not many, as they are mainly "niche" videos).
How do peers discover that they exist, even if they are not uploaded on any site such as TPB and so on?
For example, I have Jackett installed and I have searched for one of them that is being uploaded to a peer, and Jackett - with 35 indexers configured - cannot find it. So I am curious to know how someone else was able to find it.
It is also true that some of them, after several days, show up on Btdig, but not all, and not this one. (By the way, the Btdig 3rd party plugin doesn't seem to work at the moment - 429 too many requests - but that's another matter).
So yeah, my curiosity is about how other peers find out the existence of torrents created by somebody in general, if they are not uploaded anywhere and even before DHT crawlers seem to have indexed them.

Thank you in advance.

well.. I found the answer. There is at least a DHT crawler that finds my newly published torrents pretty quickly. Good to know you don't need to abide by all the stupid rules enforced by upload websites, to advertise your torrents.
