Unable to peak 45-50 Mbps on a 1 Gbps connection

I have had a 1 Gbps connection for a year and always get full speed with regular downloads.
Within qBittorrent, I have never been able to peak 45-50 Mbps.
It will definitely be a setting issue somewhere, and not a torrent (seed) / Internet connection issue.
I have numbers in each of the four 'Connection limits' options within qBittorrent's Options > Connection screen (500, 100, 8, 4) but each option is unticked (therefore not applied). Should they be ticked? Should I be looking elsewhere to solve my issue?
I have no download / upload limit set.
