Version Discrepancies

Just wondering why there is such a discrepancy in the version numbers when installing on Ubuntu?

If you use the default repo, it brings down 4.6.3, yet the AppImage is version 5.0.4.

Is the repo version not getting upgraded anymore, or have I (probablly) done something wrong?

PS: Does this board support signatures? If so, where, as I don't appear to be able to find them.

Ubuntu's official repositories focus on stability rather than having the absolute latest software releases.

- Ubuntu packages are maintained by the Ubuntu team, and especially on LTS (Long Term Support) releases, they freeze the software versions to ensure system stability and compatibility over the support period. This means even if upstream qBittorrent has released newer versions, the repository version might not be updated to avoid introducing unexpected changes or bugs.
- AppImages are self-contained packages provided directly by the qBittorrent developers or the community that aren’t bound by the same release cycle as Ubuntu’s repositories. They allow users to run the latest version without waiting for the official Ubuntu packaging process. This makes the AppImage a quicker way to access new features and fixes that are present in the newer release.

There is also a "PPA" for Ubuntu, but I'd recommend just sticking to the AppImage honestly.

Also, other Linux distros do things differently. For example if you use Manjaro Linux or openSUSE Tumbleweed, they are rolling release distributions. Meaning you will get newer software all the time (with some delay). I am not saying rolling distros are better, they are different. There is no "best" out there, that's why people distro hop around, that's why everyone uses a different distro, etc.
