Save Window: Only Browsable?

Post by boustiongske »

I recently switched to qBittorrent from uTorrent and the only gripe I have had so far is the unintuitive save window.

In uTorrent the save path could manually be edited via text.  Using the pull down menu for often used locations is OK - but if the torrent you are downloading is just a file and you want to create a new parent folder to download that file into you have to manually browse to the folder, create a new folder and save (I have also found you can just hit browse and manually type the desired path as well).  T

Is there any way to change this and get a save window similar to utorrents?

I'd just like to say I agree with the OP, except that I think it's a much bigger deal. Having to browse through your (very ugly) directory browser takes 2-3 times as long and I download a lot of torrents. I'd only switch to / recommend qBittorrent (which I'd like to) if this is fixed.

As a developer, I'd be willing to fix it myself, except that I'm not willing to maintain any out-of-tree patches, even simple ones like this. Keeping up with new versions of software is too important to me.

This was implemented the opposite way so that (other people) who complained about no longer having a select all / unselect all button would be able to select the parent folder and have basically the same interaction without those "extra buttons." Notice that the utorrent one includes such buttons? But for single files I see where this doesn't make sense.

But trust me when I say this used to be a feature, being able to rename a folder before adding, not sure about adding a folder for single file torrent. When the decision was made to remove the select all/ unselect all button and this as consequence changed/was removed.

This is a decision the (new) developer would have to decide.
