I use qBittorrent 3.10 (compiled from source) on debian jessie. it insists on downloading files to /tmp folder despite i explicitly set the location to somewhere else in the settings! How can I solve this?

From the screenshot I judge that you are using magnet links. It temporarily saves to /tmp the resulting files. When you actually hit "ok" in the "Add new torrent" dialog, it should move the files to the save path you specified.
When you add it to the list, select the torrent, click on the "General button" and post a screenshot of that.
Also post the contents of View->Execution log (maybe on pastebin). You can remove any info about torrent names/hashes.

it still saves to /tmp (here is a snapshot of the "general" tab: http://i.imgur.com/vCJN8GW.png)
this is the log: http://paste.debian.net/58164/

and what is the end result?
the save path is obviously wrong (as seen on the pic), but was the file moved when it finished?

unfortunately it wasn't. i experienced this same problem also in 3.2.0 alpha version. that's why i "downgrade"d to 3.1.0. i wasn't gonna use neither of them and stick with package maintainer's (debian jessie) version of 2.9.8 but it also had serious problems like i/o errors with (usually) torrents bigger than 4 gb and crashing randomly.

One thing to maybe check, you have write access to save path, since it is apparently a mounted location?

Does the path work if you add .torrent file instead of a magnet link?

it appears that it works with torrent files but not with magnet links.

well this is the setting i have currently:

Code: Select all

drwxrwxr-x 9 semko semko 16384 Oct 18 00:51 linyancmnt
or:

the permissions should be sufficient i suppose. i (semko) am the only user on this machine. do i now need to give permission to qbittorrent because it is considered in another group?!  ???
i also want to say again that i did not have this problem with magnet links in qbittorrent v2.9.8

hopefully this will get fixed. as a side note: the same issue exists in v3.2.0 alpha, too!

I'm also using 3.13 and also still experiencing this. Is there any progress with it yet?

update to libtorrent 0.16.13 that actually contains the fix, not qbittorrent.
