All downloads zeroed when restarting qBittorrent

If I restart qBittorrent (restart computer, restart Windows or restart qBittorrent) all downloads start from zero.
this is odd as qBittorrent saves all downloads in .!qB files.

Can this behaviour be changed so when qBittorrent restarts it will pick up from where it was?

latest is 3.1.9.
Do you use "save incomplete torrents in:" ?

No. I don't have this option in the Option menu.
Oddly, when I check for new version I get the notification that there isn't any new version.

I have now downloaded the 3.1.9 version and will give it a try.

I don't have this option in the Option menu.
Tools -> Options -> Downloads

Try disabling the ".!qB" option and see if that fixes the problem. If it does then the problem is with the code handling the custom extension.
(don't enable the "save incomplete torrents in:" option)
