Forum is functinoal again - downtime was due to Cloudflare

Cloudflare caused the issue.
Now the site runs directly from our hosting.

I will try to look for a new CDN service.
(Tried CloudFront, but it requires YOU to upload the files and everything to S3. As far as I know.
Azure is something I want to avoid at all costs.)

If you know any good alternatives, let me know.

Depends on your budget and required resources , would it not be much simpler to run SMF on a  VM/VPS rather than an unreliable "cloud" provider?

We are on a dedicated hosting with top-tier server machines.
Cloudflare is a free service (well, it's got a free option too, which we used for now). It caches the content (like user pictures, etc) and serves them to people.
This reduces bandwidth / CPU load on the host. And gives better speeds for people around the world.
(Now, the closer you are to Hungary, the faster you will be able to use the forums. For me, it's faster than localhost now.)

Again, I'm looking for a new CDN that could reduce our bandwidth usage.
If you guys know any, let me know.

Maybe stupid question: Why don't we host the forum on sf.net ?

I don't think that's capable of running mysql and everything. (we have APC too and all.)
The hosting is perfectly fine, just thought there are alternatives to Cloudflare. Guess not.

What is that?

If you want to host on sf.net make a list of the technologies we need so we can investigate what it offers.
I am pretty sure they support mysql and php

Try http://www.thetoptens.com/best-content-delivery-network-cdn-providers/.
The top thre (as of April 08, 2014, 04:56:49 PM) are CDNetworks, Akamai and CDNsun.

Just a suggestion.

APC is a cache - http://www.php.net/manual/en/book.apc.php

I like it here to be honest. The hosting is more than secure, and the hosting guy is an expert.
(Well, I know there are many experts on the field, but I trust his expertise. And he also uses it, without asking for any extra fee.
He notices me, even helps debug things if there is some bug, or some awkward error. He helps the forum/site, not just hosts it.

But, even without CloudFlare, the server is on 0.0 load most of the times, it's a beast.
CloudFlare was only a safety net, which I will put back OR put a new one on it if they won't going to fix their issue.)

That is the reason I'm so stubborn/stick to this place. And I can install new domains, software, sites, forums, anything, anytime, anyhow I want to.
Which is also nice. The site is also blazing fast and is backed up continously.

Thanks for the links @ZeoMal!

CDNSun looks nice, I will try to make it work with our forums.
