Defualt .torrent Location

I am considering changing over from uTorrent. I like the simple look and lack of ads. I am trying personalize it a little bit and ran into a little trouble. Currently, all .torrent files get saved here:
C:\Users\******\AppData\Local\qBittorrent\BT_backup
I would like them to be saved here:
D:\Downloads & .torrents
However, I only see an option to save a copy there instead of completely move the .torrent file. How can I completely change it or is this even possible?

Go to Options -> Downloads -> and tick ''copy .torrent files to'' and choose the path that you want. Opened torrents will be copied to there.

Thank you for your reply.
However, I do not want to make a copy there. I want to save it there as my default location.

You cannot do that. BT_Backup is for internal use. It keeps the all the torrents you have in your list so it can add them upon startup. If you delete/move them qbt will not kow which torrents to add in your session.

I am not sure you are understanding what I am asking for. I have no interest in touching the BT_Backup.
Basically, on Utorrent, I am allowed to determine where the .torrent and magnet files are downloaded to. I put them in a folder called Downloads & .torrents. In qBittorrent, it seems like no matter what options I choose, it gets saved to the qBittorrent\BT_backup folder. Surely, there is a cfg file or something I can change the dir, right?

That's what I am telling you. The .torrent files NEED to be in BT_backup. You cannot change that. It is hardcoded. There isn't any option you can set.

Why does Utorrent allow for it and qBittorrent not? Seems like such a simple thing.

Let's put it a different way,
BT_Backup is qBitTorrent/Libtorrent's database, where the meta data and the resume files are stored with machine readable names, the loaded torrent files with human readable names are placed in the folder that you designate with "copy loaded .torrents to" in Options -> Downloads.
The uTorrent/BitTorrent database is resume.dat (AND the location where it also copies the .torrent file to the default is %APPDATA%/uTorrent) which serves the same function as the files in BT_Backup but is actually less robust than the qBT method.

Less robust meaning the uTorrent method is better?

If you open a torrent it gets saved to BT_backup so it can be fast resumed. If you choose to enable the copy feature the opened torrent gets saved to the selected dir but also to BT_backup. If you delete the torrent within the client it goes away, doesn't stay there permanently.
Or you can try a portable version to see if it does the same, but so you know; its not officially supported here (I think it works the same way).
To be honest, I don't know what/why/where the problem is?

Let's chalk it up to anal retentiveness and say that I do not want my .torrent files stored on my C drive.

BT_Backup can't be changed to a different location. Its hardcoded to be within the appdata -> qBittorrent folder. Hide the folder then so it is not visible.

Nope "less robust" means what it says "easier to break"

The %APPDATA% location is hidden as standard in Windows, so it needs a deliberate action (three actually) to make it visible.
