Issues with qBit and torguard proxy

qBittorrent 3.1.8
Ubuntu 14.04
Got qBittorrent working with torguard with much help from sledgehammer999.
Now that I've been using it for a while I can summarize the issues that I've noticed.
In fact, the problems are so persistent that qBit is more or less just being used as a search tool.
Sometimes I'm able to do a download but most often I just download the torrent or copy the magnet link and hand the actual downloading off to Deluge.
Here's a summary of what I experience using qBit:
1) When I double click a torrent in search (or click download) nothing happens. Then after a healthy delay (as much as 15-30 seconds), the torrent will appear in the transfers tab.
2) Then qBit will try to find a working tracker. If I'm lucky it will find a tracker but most often not. If it does find a working tracker, it will usually download OK or stall. Most often it will not find a working tracker (http or udp).
3) If/When it fails to find a tracker or stalls out as mentioned above, I copy the magnet link and paste it into Deluge where 99% of the time it immediately finds a tracker and starts a download. And yes, Deluge is also configured to use the same proxy (torguard).
So, needless to say, this is a real PITA but I guess I'm happy to have the search capability at least.
