[POLL] Favourite Music Player?

Post by Nemo »

New poll time :)!

This time lets see which music player is being used the most at our forum. I tried to name all the popular ones and probably forgot a few but if you are using something else feel free to write it down.

Im mostly using Foobar with 3 plugins:
- Resampler SoX: Set at samplerate 96000 and ''quality best''.
''Good & fast resampler based on SoX resampling routines. (several times faster than PPHS Ultra).''

- VLevel: Using it on default settings.
''VLevel is a dynamic compressor which amplifies the quiet parts of music. It uses a look-ahead buffer, so the changes are gradual and the audio never clips.''

- Noise Sharpening: I have this set at 40% which seems the perfect balance for my setup.
''The Noise Sharpening DSP boosts high frequencies. The effect depends on the signal's sample rate.''

Loadad in this order:
Resampler SoX
VLevel
Noise Sharpening
Advanced limiter

Using WASAPI Event as output, buffer length 1500ms, 32bit.

I've used AIMP3 too now and then with the Enhancer DSP from Winamp. Its my second choice.

Clementine. Inspired by Amarok 1.4, the last good version of the player.

Winyl is a great little player, too. Unfortunately for Windows only.

wow m8, iTunes and Spotify in ONE category?
iTunes is like a mistake on Windows.

Only thing I use it for is to download Podcasts.
Once you close it, "distnoted.exe" will start to run and eat 2x25% of CPU on my 4 core desktop.

10/10 job applu.
same quality as their OS.

(btw Spotify is my second player, the remote control is good on it.
but it's a messy client for sure. slow, eats resources for no reason, etc.)

Lol :D; There you go, I edited the poll and added a few others for more variation. If you already have voted but wanted to vote something else you can (multiple votes allowed if you use more than 1 player).

I never really used iTunes, Spotify or any other services that much. Only played a few mp3s on my phone (on android) with Spotify which seemed good but didn't liked it at the end.

Why so? It's reeeaally comfy.
Though, there are times when I would love to just copy a playlist to an SD card or MP3 player or whatever.

So there are downsides to the cloud for sure.

As for me, I use Spotify for music I don't own, and VLC for music I have on my HDD.

I used to use Nightingale (the continuation of Songbird, as POTI stopped continuing Songbird), but it somewhat corrupted all of my MP3s/FLACs. If Nightingale fixes that, some stability issues and also a little faster startup time, I'd surely go back to it.
For now, VLC is enough, as I don't really need a fancy GUI; and Spotify as mentioned on the first line.

Yeah :)
DeaDBeeF is a foobar2000 clone, years ago i was looking for a replacement on Debian, this one was more to close. On Windows foobar2000 was my hero after longtime friend Winamp.

Im still using Foobar. Tried MusicBee and MediaMonkey but didn't liked it that much like I do Foobar :P. In combination with Milkdrop visualizations (looks great!).

I have a paid version of MediaMonkey, but am always willing to try other programs... great suggestions.  I remember jetAudio, I might give that a whirl again, I'm always game for a try...

great suggestions!
