qBittorrent official forums

Hi, guys. I started to use qBittorrent after an unpleasant story with Bittorrent. And I just loved it!
But the visual part of the soft and the site was upset me as designer. So I decided to do a little cosmetic redesign, which retains continuity but brings clarity and conciseness to qBittorrent visual identity.
Acceptable? Discuss?

The [attached]  would look better if the ascenders and descenders of the the letters were offset so it does look like 'qb'  rather a rather nondescript piece of open link chain as used for hanging light fittings.

Sorry to upset you, but the attached logo is not part of the qBittorrent project — it’s just my personal logo that I add to the end of every my cases, something like a signature. 

This may look ok on the Windows 8 menu/start screen/whatever.
But how about taking into consideration the non-flat look of Windows 7?

Btw, I think the color scheme is too close to the Skype one.

I thought you consider the one-color icon on notebook pic as the second version (for Win8). The gradient logo from the first pic is ok for Win7 icon, I think.
The blue is just the original qBittorrent color, that’s all. However, the additional ink-blue color destroys similarity with Skype as for me.

It doesn't 'upset' me in any way, it just looked like a 'q' and an 'b' over-layed and stylized. and as you stated "more pictures here" and as that appeared to be the only additional image. ... ...

You’re close — it’s an “a” and “b” combination. But not close enough. #coincidence
And yes, there’s more additional images about using the logo for the link. Not only my logo.

I want to make test builds and see how they actually fit with the application and the OS.

I have to agree about the color scheme being far too similar to skype. Something darker would be nice. This version is probably too dark but I'm throwing it in for inspiration . I do think that the current icon is a bit too complex and glossy, even though I really like the colors and design overall. I'm not a fan of gradients but I do like strong contrasts.

Edit: Decided to create a launcher just for fun. You can see how much more recognizable the qb text is without the gloss and all the competing white/highlights. (though there isn't enough distinction around the border in the unity panel)
