An incredibly useful option that is available on uTorrent but not on QB is being able to move the .torrent file from a directoryA to a different directoryB after the torrent file is completed. Currently, QB only allows you to copy it, as opposed to moving it. Moving .torrent file instead of copying it is very useful whenever I want to transfer incomplete files to another computer to finish downloading it. I can differentiate which files are completed because .torrent files of directoryA are not finished torrenting whereas directoryB contains .torrent files of finished torrents.

With only the current option of "copy," directoryB does contain only .torrent files that are torrented, but directoryA contains both unfinished and finished torrents. One might say that you just have to compare the files of the two directories and delete the ones that are found in both directoryA and directoryB from directoryA, but this is a tedious and ongoing process. In addition, if I were to "delete files from hard disk" when removing the torrent, it would remove the .torrent file of the finished torrent from directoryB but still be left behind from directoryA. If I were to do what I want to do, I would have to remember that the leftover file in directoryA is a file I've already torrented and do not want so I would delete it.

Actually there are three copies of every metadata file, as there is the copy that the client actually uses as a reference.

You could delete ALL the .torrent file(s) in either or both user specified directories as soon as the task was loaded and it would not matter to the client, the files are there purely for the user to see what has been loaded.

Where could I find this reference file? I have a program that searches the names of the .torrents and it only reveals the files of both the directories so I'm guessing the reference file for each torrent is in a different name. If that is the case, could I simply copy these reference files along with the unfinished torrents and place them in the same directory on a different computer with a different qBittorrent installed (assuming QB is not portable) or is there an easier way to accomplish what I want to do?  Also, I'm guessing there isn't a way to associate the the reference file with its .torrent file because the reference file isn't the same name.


On a side note--is there a way to copy all the settings of QB to another computer with QB installed to "sync" the settings? Would it manually involve copying appdata stuff or is this not recommended because it is not a complete/clean way of doing it? Similarly, is QB portable in that I can simply copy everything in the installed directory to an external hard drive and expect it to run from the external hard drive on a different computer? Perhaps I can keep everything torrent-related on the hard drive.

Yes. With the proviso that you also copy the ini file (windows) or .conf file (Linux & MAC. so the client will 'know' where the payload data should be.

I would like to vote up this request. The option to move completed .torrent files from directoryA to directoryB is available on uTorrent and is a very helpful feature. Can this feature be added to qB?
