[2.8.4] Weird behaviour after changing Share Ratio Limiting

First up, hi, I'm new to the forums, and I've been using qBittorrent ever since v2.6.3 without a problem and works out of the box. I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 with kernel 2.6.35-30-generic currently.
Anyways, I back to my problem, I usually set the Share Ratio Limiting to 0.5 and pause when done. I know it's called "leeching", but believe me, by the time my download is finished, my sharing ratio is already 1.2 most of the time. So I've decided to change the Sharing Ratio to 4.0 then pause the torrent since the torrent will be there for a few hours anyways. This is the part that puzzles me.
When I saved the settings with sharing ratio at 4.0, the download and upload speed drastically dropped. The torrents usually download at 3.2MiB/s and upload at 300KiB/s dropped drastically to 20KiB/s for DL and 120KiB/s for UL. The download speed will spike to 200KiB/s at times but will quickly drop to 20KiB/s after a few seconds while upload is constant at around 100 to 120KiB/s. I tried decreasing the share ratio limit from 4.0 to 3.0 to 2.0 to 1.5 to 1, still the same. When I revert back to share ratio 0.5, the upload and download speed shoot back up to normal, downloading at 3.2MiB/s and uploading at 300KiB/s.
Again, I've tried changing the ratio limit to above 4.0 (5.0, 6.0, etc) no go. It seems whenever I change the share ratio limit to be above 0.5 (even 0.6) the download and upload speed will drastically drop and will return to optimum speed when at 0.5. Tried waiting it out for 30 minutes just in case but DL and UL didn't change. So yea, quite a dilemma here since I wanna
