wierd behaviour

Post by fargoth »

I have just installed the qBittorrent client.
I like it very much so far - but I have a question...

Why does it try to connect to some Chinese ip addresses (222.64.70.78) and (217.117.162.23) even before I do anything?
This is a clean install, no torrents downloaded yet, and no searches performed.
On starting the application for the first time, it tried to connect with these IP's... is that a normal behaviour?

Thank you for your replies.

How, where, when did you see this? If you think its suspicious imma just say to you that you don't need to worry about anything mate :). Most likely is it DHT starting up and connecting to nodes at startup. qBittorrent is Open Source and based on libtorrent rasterbar, if you still ain't convienced you can do your research more deeply but isn't needed :). Also a warm welcome and have fun using qBittorrent  ;).

Agreed with the DHT suspection. Try disabling DHT and check it again.

Yes, this is DHT looking for nodes. Just disable DHT if you don't like it.
Just know that DHT helps find more sources for torrents even when trackers are down.
