Torrents Deletion Up on Program Exit

Post by Burner2k »

Hello,
I have been using Qbitorrent on Linux for a few years now and never faced any major issues. For about a week, I've been facing this strange issue with Qbitorrent.

If a torrent is added to list of downloads and if I do a complete exit of the program, the torrent is automatically deleted from the list. However, as far as I can tell, Qbitorrent does not delete the downloaded portion...only the listing from the program. No confirmation about deleting the list is asked. When I add the torrent file again, the program rechecks and resumes download from last saved progress point. I am just puzzled over this new behaviour suddenly. As far as I can tell, I have not changed the settings of the program since its installation.

I don't think, this has anything to do with the issue, but I am running Kubuntu 16.10 and I updated Qbitorrent program to the latest (3.3.7) via the Ubuntu PPA from Qbitorrent download section (don't know if 3.3.9 is available yet).

Further, I have tried removing and also purge removing Qbitorrent from system and reinstalling it. Somehow the program still retains the above behaviour. I was hoping a complete reset (purging) would get rid of the issue...

Anyways, although this issue does not prevent me from using the application, it is annoying to have to readd the torrent each time I exit the program. I would like some help with resolution of the above. If somebody can help me with a complete purge of the qbitorrent and reinstalling the same so that whatever current settings are completely wiped off and program starts anew as if a first time install would work as well.

Thx in advance.

Same here. I have old torrents witch stays but new ones are disappearing after each restart. Event tried to remove all settings from /home/user/.config/ and /home/user/.local/share/data/. Nothing helped - all torrents disappears after each restart. Same Kubuntu version, same qbittorrent version.

I have also been having this very same problem for the last month or more:

Search & Add a Torrent (from various sources)
- Either activate Torrent or not.
- Exit Program, (shutdown/restart of OS makes no difference...)
- Start Qbittorrent again and discover 'missing' entries; .torrent files still in designated 'torrents' folder, full or empty or partial downloads in designated 'Qbittorrent' folder (later changed to default 'Downloads' folder with no effect.)

Currently running on a relatively new Ubuntu Studio 16.10 (XFCE) install.

Qbittorrent was originally installed using the default OS Repositories, in an attempt to correct the bad behavior I've added
http://ppa.launchpad.net/qbittorrent-te ... buntu  (and source code) with a manual try of running
sudo apt install qbittorrent all over again; it got me to version 3.3.7 .

The 'About Qbittorrent' screen reports the following versions:

Qt: 5.6.1
Libtorrent: 1.0.7.0
Boost: 1.61.0

PS:  it says to not post bug reports in this forum so I have reposted my reply to GitHub:
