Another problem with killing traffic if VPN goes down

Hi.
New user on qBittorrent asking for some help.
I am running ver 3.3.7 on Ubuntu 17.10, PIA VPN app installed with port forward, all normal function working well.
Now it would be nice to kill traffic if the VPN goes down, using PIA killswitch also kills local LAN (SMB)
If I setup interface under advanced settings to tun0 (checked with iftables) and restart. it does not kill traffic if I kill the VPN and tun0 no longer is there.
And i mean traffic does not roll off slowly, it just runs as normal a bit up and down.
Anyone have an idea, or another way of doing this?
Thanks
