Why won't qBittorrent allow downloads when VPN is enabled?

I have private internet access VPN and Windows 10. I used to be able to download fine on Windows 7, but now, as soon as I connect the VPN, qBitTorrent won't download anything. As soon as I disconnect the VPN, it works fine. I cannot find any article here about this specific problem.
