Re-seeding Already Downloaded Torrents

I'm trying to move over to qBittorent from Vuze and am having some interesting issues.
If I add a torrent that I already have, set the save location to the correct directory, and then do a recheck it will correctly identify that the torrent is completed.
However it then just continues to recheck the torrent over and over again and never starts seeding.
If I don't recheck the torrent it just downloads over the original and doesn't even check that it already exists.
Any suggestions?
