VPN+qBittorrent+start with windows? What are my options?

Ok, i understand simple ways exist around this - but id like to get it working the way "I" prefer.

Heres my issue.  I run a vpn (but only sometimes).  I run qbittorrent at windows startup.  After 1 too many letters, I went with a vpn.

Torrents wont connect unless connected to the VPN.  I also run the vpn client at windows startup (but dont have it connect unless I intend to use, latency be damned - i game alot).

So what im stuck with is a torrent client thats red - no connections.  This is obviously correct and intended.  However when I connect to the vpn, it stays that way.  I have to close qbittorrent, and re open it to get it to go green and connect properly.

Any way to do this "on the fly"?  Like, refresh what connection qbittorrent sees without closing and reopening the client each time?  Or have it check on intervals even?  At current, its defeating the point of having it start with windows ;p

I may be stuck with a "lesser of the evils" type situation, but im hoping a means exists to manually refresh qbittorrent at least.

Thanks!

I think I know what's happening but don't know an automatic fix:
qBitTorrent loads before the VPN is fully operational, qBT fails to find the VPN then gives up -- forcing a restart of qBT before it will work with the VPN.

There needs to be built into qBT a redetection of the VPN at regular intervals...it currently lacks one. :(

Sadly for now you'll have to manually start qBT after the VPN is up-and-running.

sounds likely.  thank you for the insight.  Hopefully a developer sees this and can make accomodations.  I imagine this particular situation is hardly unique.

It's a shame to say that uTorrent handles this without any issues.
I kind made a workaround for it,
My VPN client has a option to start a program as soon as there is a VPN connection.
And when the VPN connection drops it force closes qbittorrent (qbittorrent doesn't have a nice way to shutdown with command lines).
