qBittorrent not connecting

Hey guys,
my setup and workflow look like this:
starting OpenVPN
connecting to VPN and waiting for a successful connection and IP assignment
starting qBittorrent
I set qBittorrent to use the TAP device only and connect to any IP address assigned. The thing is, it doesn’t. It just won’t start a connection until I go to the settings and choose the assigned IP address. After that, sometimes, I have to restart qBittorrent to be able to start seeding.
Need help. Anything will be helpful
