I have an intel core i5, 8gb of ram, internet 20mbps.

Recently, when downloading a torrent, my pc got very slow.

It had never happened before.

I read that it might be something cache related.

Could you kindly tell me how to solve the problem?

if this had been happening over the past few days, MS has been releasing pre-update patches, and update patches too. they have been killing my PC, especially startups for nearly a week. Today just downloaded over 200mb update, Hope the event is over

the strangest thing, is that it only gets slow when the download rate is high. somebody help me?

I'd expect extreme PC slowness if there was either buggy network drivers, an overloaded (and poorly written) software firewall, or malware present.

Is qbittorrent.exe spiking to 1 full cpu core's max at the same time?

Incidentally, I also have an Intel i5 but I don't experience general PC slowness at high download speeds..."high" can mean only 1-10 megabytes/second download speeds while downloading torrents on the internet OR torrent LAN/local loopback tests that can run in excess of 100 megabytes/second.

I downloaded uTorrent and the problem persists.

My operating system runs on an SSD.

I have an HD on which I save the files.

I'm having the same problem.

When start downloading 1 cpu core spike to 100%

Likely a software firewall is overloaded by qBitTorrent's network traffic.

the only firewall in my pc, is the windows native

Many AV products have 'lite' software firewalls built into them...and they are terrible at it, with very high CPU usage when network is busy.
