Unknown fastresume File Extension Causes qBittorrent To Crash (solution)

For weeks I have been experiencing issues with qBittorrent crashing a few seconds after program startup. No matter which version I install, once I transfer the configuration and backup files over, it would crash. I found a few suggestions online and in the forums, but nothing pointed to the *.fastresume files. If I missed such a post, I apologize.
I noticed each *.fastresume file in the BT_backup folder has a *.torrent file to accompany it. I checked the number of files in the folder and the result literally came up odd, which meant there was an extra or missing file. I scanned the list and found a *.fastresume.lxhfiR file. Since the name of the file was identical to another *.fastresume file I deleted the one with the *.lxhfiR extension. Once I restarted qBittorrent, the problem was gone.
I'm guessing the weird extension was caused by not checking "Append .!qB extension to incomplete files" in the Downloads section of the options, which I have since done. qBittorrent was trying to run a *.fastresume file with an unknown extension and it caused the program to crash. Seems fair enough.
Hope this helps anyone else who may be experiencing this.
