Default save path

Hi, please can you tell me how I can download NEW torrents into a new (different) hard drive without all the older torrents automatically moving to the new hard drive.
I was downloading to an external drive f:/downloads and that drive became full, so I set the default save path to a new drive b:/downloads..... but all the older torrents are now migrating from the first hard drive to the second! (the first drive is emptying out)
I did not right click and Set Location but the client is acting as if i did!
I feel i must have made a noob mistake but idk
