The new version has introduced some other unexpected behavior (e.g. removed the keep the top level folder checkbox).

It sounds like someone made a really bad change & are refusing to accept it ? How about re-inventing everything else in qBittorrent so people end up not using it (cause it becomes so hard to do anything simple). I am sticking with version 4.3.1 as it is still working fine and meets my needs without having to change setting via menu options each time I download (do you even realize how awkward that is).

Yay. Five releases in a row now where the confirmed scaling/graphical bug that is even in the git "Frequent/important issues" section is still not fixed. Won't reverting back to Qt 5.15.1 fix this issue and Is there a reason Qt 5.15.2 HAS to be used?

Specifically, how many days in advance do we know of a target release day? Is it only a few hours, few days, or an entire week or two that a target is set in stone? And where are those declarations announced?

In the meantime there will be a few beta releases of v4.4.0 until it hits stable status. If you use the betas then keep checking back for new betas because you won't get a program notification for them. Check once per week.
The v4.4.0beta1 uses the libtorrent 2.0.x series.

IIRC this option doesn't exist in libtorrent2. Libtorren2 has reimplemented their disk I/O code.
