How do I enable deleting files to recycle bin?

Feature sure must be there cuz more than a year ago you said it'd be there soon, so how do I enable it?
That post talks about waiting with the implementation.
As you can see the ticket is still open, there has been no progress on the topic. The developer explained why it'd be problematic to implement. It'd add another bunch of code to the already huge codebase that someone would have to maintain again. Like you would need the code, then add the whole UI functionality (being able to configure the behavior, etc). It's a lot of work.
