Hi,
What value should I use for "Disk cache" on a system that is using a HDD as storage and all the torrents will be saved there for upload? Right now it has the default value of "-1", my PC has 32 GB of RAM, and from what I read "-1" means 1/8 of RAM. OS and the rest of the work is being done on SSD. Can this influence a strange behavior I'm seeing where disk usage is way higher then the actual upload, qBittorrent was reporting ~20 MB/s upload, but disk usage was 40+ MB/s, and looking in Task Manager disk usage for qBittorrent wasn't ~8 times lower then network usage was only for it.
Even if "Disk cache" isn't related to that behavior I mentioned, what value should I use for like I said, a system with 32 GB of RAM, and the client being used mostly for upload, as when I'm downloading it doesn't take long.
And if it isn't related do I need to start a new topic to ask about that, or it kinda is a normal behavior what I mentioned about disk usage?
Recommended Disk cache value
Re: Recommended Disk cache value
Hi,
You're right about the automatic setting value but except with trials there is only a value suiting your own system, not a golden one.
You'll have to test and change the cache size and expiry time
Be aware this matter will soon no more be relevant. In the next 4.4.X version the libtorrent cache will be dropped and caching will take advantage of the OS built-in function. The OS will so handle the cache, no more a separated one for QBT/libtorrent. You can move to the beta branch to test it right now.
About the disk usage it's not normal and I guess it's a personal/local behaviour, I don't experience it at least. It may come for multiple aspect, even the bloc size of your disk. A separated topic may be better.

Re: Recommended Disk cache value
Ok, thank you! I'll wait for the new version then, and do a clean install of qBittorrent and see if it still the same, and then try to find what is the cause.
