v3.0.5 crashing

Hi All

v3.0.5 has today started to crashing. I open it and within a couple of minutes I get a Windows message box saying "qbittorrent has stopped working. A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

Any ideas how to fix?

This happened with an older version so I switched to Tixati, but I prefer qbittorent so came back and it worked. This was an older version.
I've updated twice since and the problem has only just occurred again. I have not added a new torrent, it simply started crashing for no apparent reason.

HELP!!! Thanks
Oz

I think this was related to old config files from different peoples builds (there was at a time 3-4 different people making Windows builds?), I can only suggest you have thoroughly removed the old version and old configs completely. Including the hidden/system folder, depending on which Windows version you have.

Also, if you're starting it from a shortcut make sure the shortcut link does not have a space at the end, or after the quote. This was likely a separate issue/error but you never know...

Ok, I'll give it a shot. My computer knowledge is pretty limited. How do I know if I'm deleting old items or new? Should I uninstall everything, clear all I can find then reinstall? I guess I'd lose torrents(?), but I can always start again.

Also, any advice as to what folders I should be searching to find the config files? Both hidden and unhidden?

I'm on Vista btw.

Thanks very much. Much appreciated. And sorry for my PC ignorance.

1. Go to C:\Users\"your_user"\AppData\Local\qBittorrent and copy the BT_backup folder - this is your torrents. Type %appdata% in Windows Explorer to reach the folder easily.
2. Uninstall qBT from Control Panel.
3. Delete the folder in Program Files, if there any.
4. In the Windows Explorer type %appdata% again and delete the hidden qBT folders in Roaming and Local.
5. Run a cleanup with CCleaner - first files cleaning, then registry.
6. Install qBT 3.0.5.
7. Add your torrents from the BT_backup folder using the Add torrent file option in qBT.
