4.4.0 - what happened to the torrent files?

I keep most of my torrent files as a way to keep track of what I've downloaded, which is a very easy way of knowing what the last episode of a series you've watched. For some reason that I cannot figure out, I am no longer getting torrent files. I've been using magnet links for years, and I've been keeping my files since February 2020 (I used to keep lists of shows, the files as proof is SO much easier).

I'm not deleting them by accident, as proven by my currently downloading something, pausing it, and searching my entire computer. I went through the program settings menus and didn't see anything relevant. The box in setting regarding deleting the torrent files is not checked.

I've been using qBittorrent for a long time and have never had anything like this happen. The last torrent file I have is dated Jan 18, and I most certainly have downloaded stuff after that.

Am I missing something? Did something change in the program and I missed the notice?

Thanks!

I have this issue too. Could be a problem with versions 4.4.0.

The only place the files are kept seems to be in "C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\qBittorrent\BT_backup" except the human readable name has been changed to [torrent hash].torrent. Its teadious but you can find the original name by opening up the *.torrent file in say notepad++.

I'm so glad /someone/ replied to this.

In my install, the only thing in the AppData\Local\qBittorrent\BT_backup folder is an zero byte file titled "queue", no extension.

However, AppData\Local\qBittorrent\Logs folder there is a qbittorrent.log, which goes as far back as February 1st.

This is a horrible work around, but at least it's something. What I'll do, until this gets sorted out, is create a notepad file for each thing I download, with the name sourced from the log, and drop those into my torrent files folder so I will have them when I need them weeks or months from now.

Thanks for sharing!

If only you had bothered to read the existing message threads here before posting, you wouldn't have needed to post. You would have seen several other message threads on this problem as well as learn that the official workaround is to go back to 4.3.9 until 4.4.1 comes out.

Actually what I did first was do a search through the forums but didn't find anything useful. It must have been the search term(s) I was using.
