Hello !
very happy to join you
I need help, because', although I am successfully downloading with QBittorrent, I am absolutely ignorant of its workings.
I have successfully downloaded a document, but once I reach 100% download the status changes to "sharing", and I have no idea what that means for me.
Is the document fully downloaded?
Are there people downloading from my pc?
Thank you very much

Hi!
Happy to have you on board!
And the answers are ...
Yes! 100% means you downloaded the whole file. If you don't know where it is, you can find it this way: select 'Tools' then 'Options' then 'Downloads' and look at 'Download default path': it's there!
and Yes! You downloaded this from other computers so now you share. Nothing to be afraid of though: as soon as you downloaded a single part, it was immediately shared with others and I guess everything went well. That's how torrents work: some people helped you to get it and now you help some people. The 'ratio'* shows how kind you are to others...
*Maybe one day you're able to help me with my ratio problem.

Hello, thank you very much for your clarifications.
I am very happy to share indeed with others. But how exactly does it happen.
What is shared is what I just downloaded? The others see other files on my computer ?
Thanks again for your help, and yes, it would be my pleasure to help you one day

Hi,
Didn't I say 'Don't worry' ?... Ah no, my bad !
This time, the answers are...
Yes and no: you asked your sources/peers to share what they had downloaded before you. So they did. You could get what they had before they had all, then they could get what you had and it will go on now you have everything. The only change is you are not only a peer from now on but a source!!!!
Absolutely and definitely NO! Do not panic: you were/are not able to see what your peers had on their computers, did you? No, you didn't, I know that. All the torrent clients - qBitTorrent is one of them - store your torrent files and the files you download in some secured places that the others can't see and can't access either!
Seriously, it's much less dangerous than g**gle, for instance !

Hello
okay, many, many Thxxx
I was just asking again because I read here and there that you should apply a VPN when downloading torrents.
I thank you a thousand times for your kindness
