Few noted problems require confirmation testing by others

Post by ciaobaby »

build 3.1.9.2 on Mint 16 (Petra)

Magnets stop loading metadata if added to task list before load dialogue retrieval is complete.
(Modal load dialogue prevents GUI minimise / close)

.!qb extension file not being removed after completion (both files remain in completed location)

Specified incomplete location being ignored on some job loads.

I didn't change anything from 3.1.9 apart from the version strings. I don't know why this would happen...

Yeah, the problems listed are not specific to 3.1.9.2 that is the version I have running currently, so it could be 3.1.9 generally, which is the reason for a test request rather than posting as specific issues at Git.

I've also noticed that I have several completed jobs (done on 3.1.9 and/or 3.1.9.1)  that are duplicated in the "incomplete" location root (home/Downloads/qBitTorrent/active) and in a label named sub-directory in the "completed" location (home/Downloads/qBitTorrent/done/label)

Tested on 3.1.9.2

Loading magnets (after waiting for metadata) the payload downloads to the path in the "Save As" field, and stays there throughout,  the label is not appended, the 'incomplete' location is not used and the payload is not moved to the "completed" location.
If the "Save As" field IS set as the default "completed" location, it downloads there but WILL append the label to the path.

The problem related to magnets not downloading might be related to libtorrent. You'll a newer version probably.
As for the other problem please document the behavior(expected vs now) in a bug issue.

To add more confusion/information to this.

Loading from locally stored metadata files and/or file references passed by the browser, behave exactly as expected ie: downloading starts in the "incomplete" location and are moved into the 'completed' location regardless of whether the 'load' dialogue is used or not.

However: As soon as the job starts it goes into "checking resume data" and has to be forced to close and the client restarted, after which the job runs normally.

The "checking" behaviour was reported in 3.1.4 (on Windows) #1265

Can you use this PPA to update your libtorrent and see if it fixes the "checking" and magnet loading problem?

Already is, and has been for a couple of months at least.

And ran apt-get as root a couple of times to no avail, dpkg still showing 0.16.11 as the latest available in the repos.

Looks like I may have to get "down 'n' dirty" with 'make'!!!

And then of course, just to make me into a liar, MintUpdate pops up a few minutes later and very kindly offers to update libtorrent 0.16.11.0 to 0.16.16.0.

I think you forgot to apt-get update after you added the ppa.
Did the new libtorrent fix some of your problems?

Nope, even logged on to the machine in a root shell from another box (Centos 6 "workhorse" running KTorrent) and ran apt-get update. The only difference is I shut the machine down at ~1AM before I got tempted into re-compiling Libtorrent whilst in a state of semi torpor.

No difference - The "load dialogue" is what is causing the problem.

When not used  the incomplete/complete locations are used as they should, when using the load dialogue the incomplete location is bypassed and the payload is downloaded directly to the "Save As" location including the label named sub folder.

Yes, the incomplete/complete system is broken. I am talking about this problem:
Enter magnet link and add it before it loads its metadata. You said that it didn't download the metadata afterwards and was stuck in the "downloading metadata" status. Does it download them now?

Eventually it did, took a lot longer as it did when I removed and reloaded the same magnet, tested with  project Gutenberg magnets
